Welcome

Welcome to Christ Church

Our aim is to raise standards of achievement by providing a caring and stimulating environment in which children thrive and become independent, responsible and enthusiastic learners. We encourage all our children to have high expectations and to recognise their own successes and improvements. Endeavour is acknowledged and celebrated for each and every individual.

Our school is well equipped; with modern purpose built classrooms, extensive library, learning laboratory as well as a stimulating outdoor play environment.

We believe an essential element in a child's education is the home school link. In partnership we strive to ensure that our children are happy and able to achieve the very best they can in our nurturing environment.

Curriculum

At Christ Church we ensure that all children receive an exciting and creative programme of studies that encompass the requirements of the revised national curriculum.

Themed units give our children the opportunity to explore, discover and apply their knowledge, understanding and skills in a range of contexts.

Sports

At Christ Church, children develop knowledge, skills and understanding of PE through planning, practise, performing and evaluating.

They experience a range of physical activity which develops confidence and competence in different areas.

Children have positive attitudes to P.E and improve social skills.  They appreciate the efforts of everyone and respond positively to different challenges.

Pupils are encouraged to persevere, trying hard to improve individual performance.  It’s also important that children pursue interests that promote a healthy lifestyle and know how physical activity affects the body.

The school’s scheme of work ensures continuity and progression, following guidance from the National Curriculum.

All children at Christ Church are entitled to participate in P.E, regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion and special educational need.

Arts

Beyond their learning in the classroom, children are provided with as many different extracurricular opportunities as possible in order to allow their creativity, confidence and self-esteem to flourish.

Recent opportunities have included:

  • participating in specialised workshops provided by visiting artists to create a ceramic tile panel and a community sculpture (the former displayed at school and the latter at a local park)
  • visits to the local ‘Brewhouse Arts Centre’ to enjoy productions and contribute to joint art projects
  • a host of School Art Clubs including: Pottery, Craft and Set Design
  • performances in Christmas productions by the Nursery, and also performances by Reception and Key Stage 1
  • spectacular summer productions in Key Stage 2
